Sports and Social Milestones: Turkmen Athletes Claim 471 Medals in International Competitions
02 Aug. 17:33During the first seven months of 2026, Turkmen athletes demonstrated remarkable performance in international competitions, securing a total of 471 medals. The results were highlighted in a report by Vice-Premier B. Mammedov during a cabinet meeting held via digital link on August 1.
As reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH), the reporting period saw continued progress in modernizing the national education and science sectors. Students achieved high marks in international academic competitions, while summer recreational programs were successfully delivered across health centers in Gokdere, Avaza, and the provinces. Additionally, a UNESCO Chair on "Digital Science" was established at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
In healthcare, advanced diagnostic and treatment methodologies were integrated into clinical practice. Specialized surgical procedures and medical care for children in need were financed through the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Health and Charitable Foundation. Sanatoriums across the country provided high-standard rehabilitation services to both citizens and international visitors.
Upon receiving the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the necessity of further elevating educational standards, enhancing healthcare delivery, and fostering scientific advancement. The Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to pay sustained attention to promoting sports and supporting high-performance athletes.
