Official registration has commenced for the 31st International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – OGT 2026," scheduled to take place in Ashgabat from October 21 to 23, 2026. Under the theme "Energy. Cooperation. Development," this landmark event aims to foster global partnerships and showcase the latest advancements in the energy sector. Interested participants and organizations can now secure their attendance through the official OGT 2026 website.

The upcoming summit follows the significant success of OGT 2025, which hosted over 1,400 delegates from 70 nations and featured more than 100 international companies. These figures underscore the event's position as a premier analytical and business platform in the Eurasian energy landscape. The 2026 edition is expected to further broaden this international reach, attracting a diverse range of stakeholders, from government ministers to corporate executives.

A primary focus of OGT 2026 will be the ongoing development of the Galkynysh gas field, specifically the implementation of its fourth phase, which is projected to increase annual gas production by 10 billion cubic meters. Additionally, the agenda covers critical regional projects such as the TAPI pipeline, offshore exploration in the Caspian Sea, and the monetization of natural gas. Discussions will also highlight digital transformation within the industry and strategies for enhancing energy efficiency.

The forum's comprehensive program includes high-level plenary sessions, ministerial roundtables, and specialized sessions dedicated to hydrogen energy and renewable resources. Alongside the conference, an extensive international exhibition will feature over 100 companies showcasing cutting-edge technologies. The event will facilitate vital B2B and B2G networking opportunities, aiming to drive technological innovation and secure new investment flows for Turkmenistan's energy infrastructure.

The People's Republic of Bangladesh has appointed a new head of state following a voting procedure in the national parliament. Representative of the Nationalist Party, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, has assumed the highest state office. The newly elected leader has already begun receiving official congratulations from foreign counterparts.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent an official message to the new leader of Bangladesh. In his address, the Turkmen head of state expressed warm wishes on the occasion of his election to the high post. The Leader of Turkmenistan wished the new President strong health and success in all initiatives aimed at the progress and prosperity of the Bangladeshi nation.

The political transition was necessitated by the early resignation of former head of state Mohammed Shahabuddin. The previous leader stepped down due to health reasons, which required the parliament to organize elections to fill the vacant presidential post.

The parliamentary vote to elect the head of state took place on August 20, 2026. Following the count, candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir secured a decisive victory with 255 votes from lawmakers, while his competitor Oli Ahmed received 88 votes.
