President of Turkmenistan orders stricter oversight of road construction and maintenance

An online government session reviewed the strategic outcomes of the national construction, industrial, and energy sectors covering the period from January to May 2026. The leadership of the respective block delivered comprehensive macroeconomic reports indicating consistent growth across all subordinate ministries and regional administrative departments.

Statistical tracking confirms a substantial surplus in production targets, with the overall sector achievement reaching 130.1%. The Ministry of Construction and Architecture met its baseline targets at 106.3%, the manufacturing and industrial output grew by 126.7%, and the power engineering department registered 107.5% execution. The State Chemical Concern "Turkmenhimiya" recorded the highest output growth at 152.7%, while the Ashgabat municipality completed 130.1% of its scheduled seasonal infrastructure works.

The development of transport networks remained a focal point, as the Ministry of Highways reported an execution rate of 110.6%. Addressing this sector, the executive leadership mandated a stringent overhaul of technical auditing, demanding closer monitoring of engineering standards, pavement laying, and long-term maintenance of all national transport corridors.

Future operational priorities emphasize maximizing the capacity utilization of domestic industrial plants and guaranteeing uninterrupted power supply to residential and corporate consumers. Additionally, strict administrative oversight was enforced regarding the completion timelines of all major structural projects scheduled for commissioning by the end of this calendar year.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
