President of Turkmenistan Orders Strict Supervision of Agricultural Activities
04 May. 17:23President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a digital working meeting focused on the operational management of the nation’s agricultural sector and regional development projects. The meeting, which included the Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture and provincial governors, addressed the progress of seasonal field operations and the strategic implementation of national programs. The discussions centered on maximizing productivity through the application of advanced agro-technical standards across the country’s farmlands.
Current field operations are concentrated on the maintenance of wheat fields, where irrigation and fertilization processes are being closely monitored to ensure a healthy harvest. Extensive logistical preparations are also underway for the upcoming grain harvest, including the technical inspection of combine harvesters and the readiness of grain elevators and storage facilities. These efforts aim to ensure that the infrastructure is fully operational and capable of handling the anticipated volume of grain.
In the cotton sector, farmers are focusing on irrigation for germination, row-spacing cultivation, and thinning activities to promote optimal plant growth. Similar rigorous standards are being applied to spring potatoes and various vegetable crops to guarantee high yields. Additionally, the meeting highlighted the organized progress of the silk cocoon production season, with measures being taken to meet national production targets and support the domestic textile industry.
Concluding the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of preventing crop diseases and pests through timely intervention and directed officials to maintain high standards in the construction of social and industrial facilities. Under the National Rural Program, several key infrastructure projects are scheduled for completion this year. The Head of State stressed that these projects must adhere to strict quality controls and be delivered on schedule to support the ongoing socio-economic advancement of the country’s rural regions.
