President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, on the occasion of his birthday. The official message of congratulations was broadcast on the national television news program "Watan."
In his letter, the Turkmen Head of State emphasized that under Xi Jinping's leadership, China has achieved remarkable progress in socio-economic development, improving the living standards of its population, and strengthening its global standing. The President highly praised the traditional bonds of friendship and strategic partnership established between Ashgabat and Beijing.
President Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to further expanding comprehensive bilateral cooperation based on equality and mutual respect. Concluding his message, the Turkmen leader wished the Chinese President good health and continued success in his state duties, while wishing peace and prosperity to the people of China.

The political transition was necessitated by the early resignation of former head of state Mohammed Shahabuddin. The previous leader stepped down due to health reasons, which required the parliament to organize elections to fill the vacant presidential post.
The parliamentary vote to elect the head of state took place on August 20, 2026. Following the count, candidate Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir secured a decisive victory with 255 votes from lawmakers, while his competitor Oli Ahmed received 88 votes.
