President of Azerbaijan Thanks Turkmenistan for Promoting Peace and Neutrality
02 Sep. 09:48President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan sent a letter to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, expressing gratitude for the invitation to the Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, scheduled for December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.
Aliyev highlighted Turkmenistan’s initiative to declare 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust — approved by the UN General Assembly — as a clear recognition of the country’s contribution to international peace and security.
He emphasized the symbolic importance of holding the forum during the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. Azerbaijan, as a brotherly nation, has always respected this status and co-sponsored relevant UN resolutions in 1995 and 2015.
The President expressed confidence that the upcoming forum would contribute to strengthening global peace and stability. He also wished Berdimuhamedov good health and success, and peace and prosperity to the people of Turkmenistan.
FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi (Pablo Paéz Gavira) is donating approximately €1.3 million to fund the construction of 150 homes for homeless and low-income individuals. The project will take place in his hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca, located in the province of Seville.
According to Spanish media outlets, the development is designed to shelter around 300 people who face financial difficulties in purchasing or renting a home. The initiative is a purely charitable endeavor funded entirely by the footballer rather than a commercial real estate investment.
Specific details regarding construction timelines and eligibility criteria for housing recipients will be announced in subsequent phases of the project.
