Lebap Production Directorate Achieves Significant Growth in Liquefied Gas Output
01 May. 14:47The Lebap Production Directorate for Liquefied Gas, operating under the "Türkmengaz" State Concern, reported exceptional industrial performance during the first quarter of 2026. In March alone, the facility exceeded its production targets, achieving a 100.4% fulfillment rate. While the initial goal was set at 9,710 tons, the directorate successfully produced 9,752 tons of liquefied gas, maintaining a steady supply to meet both domestic and international energy demands.
Production figures for gas condensate also showed a substantial increase, reaching 105.8% of the projected volume. The facility outputted 7,586 tons of condensate, surpassing the planned 7,170 tons. These results underscore the efficiency of the processing units and the directorate's commitment to optimizing resource extraction and refining processes in the eastern region of Turkmenistan.
During the first three months of the current year, the total output of liquefied gas in the Lebap province reached 25.6 thousand tons. This represents a significant upward trend compared to the same period in the previous year, with overall production efficiency rising by approximately 2.5 times. This surge in productivity highlights the successful implementation of modern technologies in the processing of natural gas and its derivatives.
Established in 2005 and headquartered in the city of Turkmenabat, the directorate plays a vital role in the national energy sector. Its infrastructure includes two specialized production plants and four logistical terminals designed for the storage and loading of liquefied gas. The continued modernization of these facilities ensures that Turkmenistan remains a reliable provider of high-quality hydrocarbon products in the regional energy market.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
