Key Outcomes of Turkmenistan’s Government Meeting

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a regular Cabinet session on Friday, reviewing reports from deputy prime ministers and approving several new government resolutions.

Speaker of the Mejlis Dunyagozel Gulmanova briefed the President on the drafting of bills concerning scientific intellectual property and virtual assets, along with proposed amendments to current legislative acts. She also reported on recent international engagements with the Ambassador of Palestine and a delegation from the National People’s Congress of China.

Members of parliament participated in two conferences hosted by the UN Office in Turkmenistan and GIZ, took part in the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, and attended a UNICEF event held in Moldova.

Deputy Prime Minister Khojamyrat Geldimyradov provided updates on preparations for the next session of the Turkmenistan–Tatarstan Joint Working Group on economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation, scheduled for November in Ashgabat.

Deputy PM Batyr Amanov announced new geological findings: the state corporation “Türkmengeologiýa” has identified promising deposits of natural resources.

Deputy PM Tangryguly Atahallyyev reported on seasonal agricultural work, including fertilization and irrigation of winter wheat, soil preparation on freed fields, and the ongoing cotton harvest, storage and processing.
In Lebap, measures are underway for rice collection and preservation, while in Mary, similar work continues with sugar beet — a vital raw material for sugar production and an important livestock feed. Preparations for wintering livestock are progressing as planned.

Deputy PM Baimyrat Annamammedov updated on preparations for the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, including cultural renovations, urban landscaping, and festive decoration of Ashgabat.

Nokerguly Atagulyyev reported on preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Turkmen–Qatari Intergovernmental Commission in Doha.

Deputy PM Bahar Seyidova presented a draft resolution announcing the next Presidential award competition “Türkmeniň Altyn asyry,” to conclude in September next year.

Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva briefed the President on the upcoming Youth Award ceremony scheduled for November 16.

Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov discussed preparations for the seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders and the President’s state visit to Uzbekistan, which will include the opening of a Turkmen–Uzbek border trade center.

Deputy PM Mammetkhan Chakyyev reported on steps to modernize the legal framework of the transport sector to improve passenger services.

President Berdimuhamedov issued individual instructions to Cabinet members and signed two decrees:
— launching the “Türkmeniň Altyn asyry” creative contest;
— approving the Turkmen composition of the Turkmenistan–Tatarstan Joint Working Group.

Turkmenistan and Spain share experience in combating desertification

A Spanish delegation led by Ambassador to Moscow Ricardo Martinez held talks with the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental matters.

During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated the Turkmen side on the International Day of Neutrality and thanked them for the warm welcome. The discussions were later reported on the official website of Turkmenistan’s environmental authority.

The agenda included cooperation in environmental protection, joint efforts to combat desertification, and measures to address plastic waste pollution. Special emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan’s presidential initiative announced at the UN General Assembly, proposing the establishment of a regional desertification prevention center for Central Asian countries, along with potential areas of collaboration.
