The world-renowned Turkmen equestrian sports group "Galkynysh" is currently participating in the 8th World Ethnosport Cultural Festival, held at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport complex from May 21 to 24. The 25-member national delegation is led by the Honored Horse Breeder of Turkmenistan, Serdar Pygyev. The skilled Turkmen riders performing on historic Akhal-Teke horses have already executed their inaugural acrobatic demonstrations, with public showcases scheduled to run until the conclusion of the event on May 24.

The extensive international cultural forum is organized by the World Ethnosport Confederation. The primary objective of the annual festival is to preserve traditional indigenous sports, promote intangible cultural heritage, and reinforce generational social values. The interactive platform offers international visitors a comprehensive historical experience, showcasing ancient sporting competitions that defined distinct world civilizations.

The official opening ceremony took place in front of the traditional "Khan's Tent," accented by historical performances from student groups playing to the melodies of the "Gulbank" orchestra, alongside the famous Janissary band of the Istanbul Historical Turkish Music Ensemble. Bilal Erdogan, President of the World Ethnosport Confederation, addressed the audience at the launch, stating that the project functions as a dynamic environment to celebrate ethnic diversity and allows children to experience cultural roots firsthand.

The continuous four-day program features athletic tournaments, focusing heavily on traditional wrestling and specialized equestrian sports. This year's assembly has drawn professional cultural participants, artisans, and traditional sports competitors from more than twenty nations, including Japan, Egypt, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Russia, and several Central Asian jurisdictions. The active deployment of the Galkynysh ensemble highlights Turkmenistan's ongoing commitment to safeguarding global equestrian identity.

Financial Disagreements Derail Anticipated Heavyweight Bout Between Usyk and Wilder

The highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between former undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk and former WBC titleholder Deontay Wilder has officially been canceled. Both camps had initially aimed to stage the blockbuster bout in the spring of 2027, generating immense excitement among boxing enthusiasts worldwide. However, negotiations between the prominent boxing stars ultimately collapsed behind closed doors.

According to prominent sports journalist Mike Coppinger and insider sources, the breakdown in talks stemmed directly from unresolved financial disputes and disagreements over purse splits. Negotiations were reportedly halted roughly three weeks ago after both sides failed to reach a mutually beneficial commercial agreement. As a result, the Ukrainian champion is currently left without a scheduled opponent, and his promotional team is not actively engaged in talks for an alternative match.

Meanwhile, rumors have surfaced regarding Deontay Wilder's potential next steps inside the squared circle. Reports indicate that Wilder has reached out to cruiserweight standout Jai Opetaia, attempting to entice him into a December 11 fight card. Speculation suggests Wilder hopes to position this high-profile matchup as a co-feature ahead of the eagerly awaited heavyweight clash between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
