The first official trailer for the upcoming feature film "Vitrinny Ekzemplyar" ("Showcase Piece") has debuted online, offering a glimpse into the life of the world-renowned Russian mathematician Grigori Perelman. Rising star Mark Eydelshteyn portrays the eccentric genius in the biographical drama. The film chronicles Perelman's life around the turn of the millennium when he successfully proved the Poincaré conjecture—one of the seven famous "Millennium Prize Problems" that had baffled scientists for generations. In 2010, Perelman was awarded a $1 million prize for his breakthrough, but he famously rejected the money, citing his disagreement with the mainstream organized mathematical community.

The brief teaser showcases a cinematic, snow-covered Saint Petersburg. Judging by reports from the set a year ago, where Eydelshteyn was spotted sporting a thick beard, the narrative will follow Perelman through his youth and into his years of maturity and global fame. Lead actor Mark Eydelshteyn previously gained recognition for his role in the series "Smychok" ("The Bow") and captured global attention in 2024 by starring in Sean Baker's American comedy-drama "Anora," which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and went on to claim an Academy Award.

"Vitrinny Ekzemplyar" is scheduled to make its world premiere at a major film festival this summer, with a wide theatrical release slated for next year.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
