FC Ahal have officially announced significant squad changes, marking the beginning of a new phase for the Turkmenistan-based football club. The management confirmed that several first-team players have completed their time with the club.

The most notable departure is Elman Tagayev, the long-serving captain and one of the most respected footballers in Turkmenistan. At 36, Tagayev leaves FC Ahal after years of leadership and consistent performances, earning heartfelt appreciation from the club and its supporters.

Alongside him, experienced players Alibek Abdurakhmanov, Gurban Annaev, and Salim Umarov have also departed. FC Ahal of Turkmenistan expressed deep gratitude to each player for their dedication and contribution to the team’s achievements.

Club officials also addressed recent transfer rumors, clarifying that several key players remain part of the project. In particular, Bakhtiyar Gurgenov has extended his contract and will continue representing Turkmenistan’s FC Ahal in the upcoming season.

The coaching staff has also undergone changes. Eziz Annamukhammedov has been appointed head coach after working with the reserve squad, while Velsakhat Ovezov remains within the club as an assistant. Under Ovezov, FC Ahal twice finished as runners-up in the Turkmenistan championship and reached the national cup final twice.

On the international stage, FC Ahal successfully passed the AFC Champions League Two qualification round, highlighting the club’s growing ambitions within Turkmenistan football. The team will resume training in mid-January, with the transfer window open until late February. The club is actively working on strengthening the squad ahead of the new domestic season and upcoming AFC competitions.
