Extreme Heat Warning: Temperatures in Adana Expected to Reach 50 Degrees Celsius
29 Jul. 10:03Southern regions of Türkiye are confronting an extreme heatwave that threatens to establish new seasonal records. According to assessment data provided by Turkish meteorologist İhsan Yurtdaş and cited by RIA Novosti, temperatures in the city of Adana could reach 50 degrees Celsius.
Meteorological experts categorize the anticipated heat levels as among the highest recorded during the current summer season. Consequently, authorities urge both local residents and visiting tourists to exercise heightened caution during peak daytime hours.
The most critical period of thermal stress is projected to extend from the early afternoon through the evening. The combination of elevated atmospheric temperatures and high humidity levels poses a substantial strain on the human cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
To mitigate heat-related health risks, specialists advise the public to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, maintain high fluid intake, and significantly reduce physical exertion during the hottest intervals of the day.

Seismic First: Scientists Officially Confirm Natural Earthquakes in Lithuania
10 Oct. 10:55The Geological Survey of Lithuania, supported by seismologists from the University of Helsinki, has officially confirmed the occurrence of natural tectonic earthquakes within the country’s borders for the first time. The seismic events, measuring 2.4 and 2.7 on the magnitude scale, occurred in western Lithuania near the Gargždai fault zone in December 2025. Furthermore, updated analysis of international seismic data allowed experts to reclassify a previously ambiguous 2015 tremor as a natural earthquake rather than human-induced activity.
Although the low-intensity quakes caused no structural damage or casualties, they mark the first instrumentally verified natural tectonic events recorded in modern Lithuanian history.
