Diplomats and public figures in Ashgabat honor Alexander Pushkin on International Russian Language Day

The capital of Turkmenistan held an official flower-laying ceremony at the monument of Alexander Pushkin to celebrate the legacy of the world-renowned poet and mark International Russian Language Day. The tribute brought together officials from various diplomatic missions accredited in Ashgabat, academic figures, administrative representatives, and local citizens to honor the literary anniversary.

Prior to the formal tribute, an educational and artistic program was delivered by the student body and faculty of the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School. The students performed a series of theatrical recitations and musical compositions based on the author's classic poetry. Diplomatic delegations from the Russian Federation, Belarus, Iran, China, and Tajikistan attended the public gathering as honorary observers.

During the official addresses, foreign diplomats emphasized the structural significance of the poet's work in defining global literature and expanding cross-cultural ties. The speakers noted that classical poetry functions as an enduring cross-cultural platform, translating national identities and emotional landscapes into a shared international heritage. The high level of engagement with classic arts shown by the local youth was specifically commended.

In statements provided to regional media, diplomatic representatives compared the stylistic depth of the author with prominent Eastern and Persian philosophical figures including Ferdowsi, Hafez, and Saadi. The consensus highlighted that monumental authors transcend geographical borders by fostering deeper institutional and cultural understanding between states. Within this framework, deep reverence was also expressed toward the timeless philosophical heritage of the Great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
