The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium hosted a meeting with a group of Chinese students who arrived in Brussels to participate in a summer educational program, according to the diplomatic mission.

The group, consisting of 27 high school and university students from nine provinces of China, was warmly received at the embassy.

Turkmen diplomat Palvanov introduced the guests to Turkmenistan’s foreign policy principles, emphasizing the country's status of permanent neutrality. He highlighted the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) held in Awaza, as well as the importance of 2025 being declared the International Year of Peace and Trust.

He also spoke about Turkmenistan's peacekeeping role in the region, its efforts to advance transport diplomacy, and its strategic location as a bridge between East and West. The diplomat outlined current partnerships with the European Union and the strengthening bilateral relations with China.

The ambassador reminded the students of Turkmenistan’s historical role in the Silk Road. Trade caravans once passed through cities such as Merv, Amul, Serakhs, and Dehistan, linking China and Europe. Today, Turkmenistan continues to serve as a vital transit hub in Eurasia.

During the event, an exhibition of Turkmenistan's cultural and historical heritage was presented, featuring national crafts, traditional embroidery, jewelry, and clothing. Each student received a traditional Turkmen cap — a tahya — as a token of friendship.

The meeting took place in a warm, interactive atmosphere, with students asking questions about diplomacy, international relations, history, and life in modern Turkmenistan.

School students from Turkmenistan have been recognized among the winners of the UNESCO regional competition titled “The Art of Equal Opportunities: Sport and Artificial Intelligence.” The award-winning participants — Gozel Tachgulyyeva, Jennet Nurmuhammedova, and Arzuw Orazova — represented Specialized School No. 24 for Gifted Youth in Mary, a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network in Turkmenistan.

The competition, designed for young people across Central Asia, was organized by the UNESCO Regional Office in Almaty in partnership with the National Federation of UNESCO Clubs of Kazakhstan, the British Embassy in Astana, and the Association of UNESCO Clubs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Participants submitted creative works in two categories: “Women and Artificial Intelligence” and “Women in the World of Sport.” Following evaluation, 25 outstanding works by artists under the age of 18 from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan were selected.

The Turkmenistan team’s mentor, teacher Jeren Badyyeva, received a special certificate in recognition of her pedagogical guidance and contribution to the preparation of the students.

The final exhibition showcasing the top 25 entries was held in Almaty from December 3 to 8, featuring selected works from young participants, including those from Turkmenistan. All winners were awarded certificates and commemorative gifts.
