Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva: 26,9 years is the average age of the population of Turkmenistan

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva delivered an official speech at the opening ceremony of the Youth Forum within the framework of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Countries. The event is taking place in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone on the Caspian Sea coast.

In her speech, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the demographic characteristics of the LLDC countries, where about 58% of the population is under 25. According to her, young people represent a significant force for development and innovation in these countries.

Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva emphasized the importance of investing in education and professional training of young people, supporting youth entrepreneurship and developing digital literacy as priority areas of sustainable development.

Speaking about the situation in Turkmenistan, she said that the average age of the country's population is 26,9 years, and 40% of residents are young people aged 10 to 29. About 37% of parliament members are under 35 years old, which demonstrates the participation of the younger generation in governing the state.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers spoke about measures to support young people in Turkmenistan, including tax breaks for young professionals in the first three years of work, an increase in preferential loans for newlyweds and priority rights to receive mortgage housing.

The speech mentioned the platform "Dialogue of Central Asian Youth" initiated by Turkmenistan. The first meeting within the framework of this platform took place in October 2023 in the city of Arkadag, the second - in April 2025 at the UN headquarters in New York with the participation of delegates from 45 countries.

Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva also noted that this year Turkmenistan celebrates the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, a status that has been recognized three times by the UN. According to her, neutrality has become the basis for educating a generation of young people in the spirit of peace and trust.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan today. During the trip, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan reviewed issues related to the high-level organization of major international events scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in 2026, in line with the country’s foreign policy strategy.

As part of the visit, the National Leader of Turkmenistan examined project proposals concerning the readiness of facilities planned for international events along the Caspian Sea coast. Attention was given to the landscaping of surrounding areas, the modern design of entrance zones, the level of interior equipment, the layout of venues for various stages of international forums, and the progress of interior finishing works in buildings intended for large-scale conferences.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that all necessary conditions must be created for international guests attending events in Turkmenistan. He also highlighted the importance of fully integrating digital technologies into these facilities and provided guidance to relevant officials.

During the working trip, the National Leader conducted an aerial inspection by helicopter over the Avaza National Tourist Zone, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects. Upon completion of the visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat.
