The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan hosted a specialized briefing in Ashgabat to outline the objectives of the 4th International High-Level Conference on the Water Action Decade. This upcoming forum, scheduled for late May in Dushanbe, is being organized in close partnership with the United Nations. The briefing aimed to inform the diplomatic community and international media about the strategic importance of this global gathering in tackling water-related challenges.

The conference is designed to serve as a high-level platform for evaluating global progress toward the "Water Action Agenda." Co-chaired by top officials from the Tajik government and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, the event will focus on mobilizing political will and fostering cross-border cooperation. The ultimate goal is to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals related to water management and sanitation worldwide.

Four primary pillars define the conference agenda, ranging from immediate practical solutions to long-term policy planning. These include preparatory steps for the 2026 UN Water Conference, the search for innovative technological applications in irrigation and supply, and the formulation of a global water policy framework for the post-2030 era. The discussions are expected to produce actionable commitments that will influence international environmental standards for years to come.

In line with the principle of global inclusivity, the organizers have invited a broad spectrum of stakeholders beyond government delegations. Representatives from the scientific community, the private sector, women’s groups, and youth organizations will participate in the dialogue.
