Dave Bell, a 54-year-old British Royal Navy veteran, has completed an extraordinary historic solo transatlantic and transoceanic journey, rowing across both the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Departing from Peru on November 9, 2025, Bell spent 327 continuous days at sea without touching land, successfully arriving in Kilifi, Kenya, on October 2. Navigating over 15,000 nautical miles (approximately 28,000 kilometers) in a specialized carbon boat, he endured psychological isolation, weeks of deliberate delays to avoid tropical cyclones, and close encounters with marine predators.
Beyond setting a monumental endurance benchmark, the expedition served a noble philanthropic purpose. Through his ocean crossing, Bell raised over £110,000 (nearly $150,000) for Rock2Recovery, a charity dedicated to supporting military veterans and emergency first responders dealing with post-traumatic stress and mental health challenges.

Seismic First: Scientists Officially Confirm Natural Earthquakes in Lithuania
10 Oct. 10:55The Geological Survey of Lithuania, supported by seismologists from the University of Helsinki, has officially confirmed the occurrence of natural tectonic earthquakes within the country’s borders for the first time. The seismic events, measuring 2.4 and 2.7 on the magnitude scale, occurred in western Lithuania near the Gargždai fault zone in December 2025. Furthermore, updated analysis of international seismic data allowed experts to reclassify a previously ambiguous 2015 tremor as a natural earthquake rather than human-induced activity.
Although the low-intensity quakes caused no structural damage or casualties, they mark the first instrumentally verified natural tectonic events recorded in modern Lithuanian history.
