The capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, hosted the international forum titled "Central Asian Women Parliamentarians — Leadership in Advancing the Water for Sustainable Development Agenda." Held under the framework of the German Agency for International Cooperation’s (GIZ) "Green Central Asia II" program, the event saw high-level participation from representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The regional forum served as a critical institutional venue for strengthening parliamentary dialogue on transboundary water governance and climate change.

The primary objective of the forum was to maximize the strategic role of women legislators in promoting the water agenda, climate resilience, and cross-border cooperation in Central Asia. The platform enabled high-level delegates to share legislative best practices, establish coordinated institutional approaches, and align national legal frameworks with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The discussions emphasized that gender-inclusive environmental policies are essential for addressing the region's shared ecological challenges.

During the sessions, the parliamentary delegation of Turkmenistan delivered comprehensive statements highlighting the country’s legal and practical advancements in ecological preservation. The representatives emphasized that Turkmenistan is systematically implementing state programs focused on ensuring food security, optimizing land resource utilization, and introducing advanced water-saving technologies. It was noted that Turkmen women lawmakers are actively engaged in drafting national laws that support green growth and sustainable agricultural production.

Furthermore, the Turkmen delegation highlighted the core concepts of water and environmental diplomacy championed by Ashgabat on the global stage. They emphasized that empowering women within legislative and leadership positions serves as a powerful instrument for strengthening trust, mutual understanding, and peaceful coexistence among Central Asian nations. The international participants highly commended Turkmenistan's legal initiatives and agreed on the necessity of expanding inter-parliamentary frameworks to secure long-term environmental sustainability.
