From August 3 to 13, 2025, the Central Asian Traditional Karate Championship was held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Turkmen national team achieved outstanding results, winning a total of 16 medals across various age categories.
Turkmen athletes earned 9 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals. The most notable performances came from young karatekas in individual kata and kumite disciplines.
Gold medal winners included: Shamyrat Hodjageldiyev (two golds, ages 6–7), Ailar Azadova (10–11), Damir Allaberdiev (10–11), Medine Kazakova (12–13), Adylsha Ataev (14–15), Ibragim Shaguliyev (16–17), Nurgeldi Annagurbanov (18–21), and Khemra Begdzhanov (18–20).
Silver medals went to Ailar Ilkhanova (two medals, 10–11) and Selim Myratdurdyev (21–25). Bronze medalists were Myakhri Sakhatsova, Suleyman Rovshenov (both 12–13), Soltansha Atanyazov and Serdar Bayryev (both 16–17).
Around 500 athletes from five Central Asian countries participated. The Turkmen team consisted of students from schools and universities in Ashgabat, as well as the Ahal and Dashoguz provinces.

Al-Haldia fully prepared for decisive AFC Champions League Two match against Turkmenistan’s Arkadag
The head coach of Bahrain’s Al-Haldia football club, Lassad Chabbi, confirmed that his team is in complete readiness ahead of their crucial AFC Champions League Two group-stage match against Arkadag, the representative club of Turkmenistan.
According to the coach, the squad is currently free of injuries, and all players are available for selection. He emphasized that the team enters the match with confidence and aims to secure a positive result against Turkmenistan’s Arkadag.
The decisive encounter will take place on December 24 at 9:00 PM local time at the Arkadag Stadium in Turkmenistan. This match carries major significance for both sides, as it will strongly influence qualification to the next round.
In the current group standings, Qatar’s Al-Ahli leads with seven points, followed closely by Al-Haldia with six. Uzbekistan’s Andijan holds five points, while Turkmenistan’s Arkadag occupies fourth place with four points.
With only the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage, all four clubs remain mathematically in contention. As a result, the upcoming match in Turkmenistan is regarded as a decisive battle for progression to the next phase of the tournament.
