Turkmen journalists took part in the international media program dedicated to Türkiye's Democracy and National Unity Day

From July 14 to 18, an international program was held in Ankara and Istanbul, organized by the Directorate of Communications under the Presidency of Turkey, and dedicated to Democracy and National Unity Day, which is commemorated annually on July 15.

The media program brought together 200 journalists, including representatives from all provinces of Turkey and 120 correspondents from 41 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by journalists from leading media outlets: BeýanBusiness TurkmenistanOrientTurkmenportal, and Atawatan Türkmenistan.

On July 15 and 16 in Ankara, participants attended a series of large-scale events. Journalists visited the July 15 Democracy Museum, took part in a special session at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, and viewed an exhibition dedicated to the memory of national heroes.

It is important to note that the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, also took part in the events.

A panel session titled "July 15: Memory, Justice, and the Future" was also held, featuring speeches by high-ranking officials including the Head of the Directorate of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Bekir Bozdağ, among others.

Speaking at the session, Burhanettin Duran (if keeping the original name from your version), Head of the Directorate of Communications, stated that over 21,000 projects were implemented in 2025 under the national initiative "Name of Victory — Türkiye", nearly double the number in 2024. According to him, this reflects the growing public interest in safeguarding constitutional democracy.

The final stage of the international media program took place in Istanbul on July 17–18.

On July 17, participants visited the July 15 Martyrs’ Bridge (15 Temmuz Köprüsü) — a symbol of civic courage. They also toured the July 15 Memory Museum, which features documents, videos, and personal stories of those involved in the historic events.

Later that day, a press briefing was held at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality with the participation of the city’s governor, Davut Gül.

Democracy and National Unity Day was established in 2016 and is now marked annually in Turkey as a symbol of civic resistance and national solidarity.
