A delegation from Turkmenistan is participating in the 66th session of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in Vienna. The national delegation is led by Guljemal Charyyeva, Director of the Institute of Seismology and Atmospheric Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan released an official statement regarding the diplomatic mission.

During the national address, the Turkmen delegation reaffirmed Ashgabat's steadfast commitment to the core goals and principles of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty. The presentation highlighted a double milestone: the 30th anniversary of the treaty being opened for signature and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's accession to the agreement. The speech emphasized active bilateral cooperation, particularly focusing on the continuous operations of the PS44 "Alibek" seismic station, which serves as a vital component of the International Monitoring System.

The delegation also commended the positive outcomes of the recent official visit by CTBTO Executive Secretary Robert Floyd to Ashgabat. His trip yielded significant collaborative results, including the successful organization of a high-level regional meeting, a specialized training workshop for national data centers, and a Youth Forum dedicated to global peace, security, and comprehensive nuclear disarmament.
