Turkmen Akhal-Teke Horses to Feature in International Competition in Tashkent

Turkmenistan is set to participate in the international equestrian sports and beauty contest titled "Pearl of the East," scheduled for May 9–10, 2026, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. According to the TDH news agency, the Turkmen delegation will also attend a dedicated conference titled "The Akhal-Teke Horse — A Symbol of Friendship Between Nations." This initiative aims to strengthen cultural ties and celebrate the shared equestrian heritage of the region.

During a government meeting, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahallyev reported on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming trip. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice-Premier to ensure the successful participation of Turkmen breeders and the legendary Akhal-Teke horses in these international events. The President emphasized that such platforms are vital for showcasing Turkmenistan’s achievements in the art of horse breeding to the global community.

The involvement of Akhal-Teke horses in the Tashkent festival highlights the global prestige of Turkmenistan’s national pride. These "heavenly horses" continue to serve as ambassadors of culture and history, promoting friendship and cooperation through the medium of sport and traditional art. The event in Uzbekistan is expected to be a significant milestone in fostering academic and professional exchange among equestrian experts across Central Asia.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
