President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Michael Usi, Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, who arrived in the country to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, TDH reports.

The Vice President of Malawi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the invitation to participate in the international conference. He noted the high level of organization of the forum, whose main goals are the development of joint solutions for sustainable development and the strengthening of international cooperation. Michael Usi conveyed greetings from Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera to the head of the Turkmen state.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked him for the kind words and extended best wishes to the leadership of the friendly country. He expressed confidence that the conference held on Turkmenistan’s Caspian Sea coast will serve as a foundation for developing transport and transit corridors, strengthening interregional cooperation, and expanding economic opportunities.

“Turkmenistan attaches great importance to developing friendly and mutually beneficial relations with various countries, including those in Africa,” the head of state stated, noting Turkmenistan’s readiness to use all opportunities to strengthen political-diplomatic and trade-economic ties with the Republic of Malawi.

The parties emphasized the importance of enhancing interaction within international organizations, primarily the United Nations. It was expressed that the Vice President of Malawi’s visit would become an important milestone in interstate relations, and the meetings held would contribute to giving bilateral cooperation concrete substance.

The participants noted significant potential for establishing contacts in the fields of energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, and scientific research.

At the end of the negotiations, the President of Turkmenistan and the Vice President of Malawi reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to expanding cooperation and wished each other success in their state activities.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan today. During the trip, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan reviewed issues related to the high-level organization of major international events scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in 2026, in line with the country’s foreign policy strategy.

As part of the visit, the National Leader of Turkmenistan examined project proposals concerning the readiness of facilities planned for international events along the Caspian Sea coast. Attention was given to the landscaping of surrounding areas, the modern design of entrance zones, the level of interior equipment, the layout of venues for various stages of international forums, and the progress of interior finishing works in buildings intended for large-scale conferences.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that all necessary conditions must be created for international guests attending events in Turkmenistan. He also highlighted the importance of fully integrating digital technologies into these facilities and provided guidance to relevant officials.

During the working trip, the National Leader conducted an aerial inspection by helicopter over the Avaza National Tourist Zone, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects. Upon completion of the visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat.
