The letter was formally issued on the occasion of the National Turkmen Carpet Day, marking also the commencement of the comprehensive textile exposition and the XXVI Meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs. The State News Agency TDH reports that this high-level exchange underscores the state's strategic focus on preserving sovereign cultural assets.

In his message, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow described the national carpet weaving tradition as a masterpiece of design and a cornerstone of global cultural heritage. He noted that the intricate color harmony and technological authenticity of these handmade textiles have earned full global recognition. A key milestone in this process was the inscription of the traditional art of Turkmen carpet weaving onto the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, validating the long-term state initiatives aimed at safeguarding this ancient craft.

The National Leader highlighted the ongoing institutional modernization of the textile and artisan sectors within the country. Modern carpet-weaving factories are regularly commissioned nationwide, integrating optimized working conditions and advanced welfare facilities for female weavers. Furthermore, the state consistently recognizes corporate and individual excellence by conferring honorary titles and presenting premium awards to senior artisans, securing the preservation of ancestral blueprints and historical data.

Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
