The royal palace press office of Thailand has released an official statement announcing the passing of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, the eldest daughter of King Rama X, widely recognized by the public as Princess Pa. The prominent public and political figure passed away at the age of 47. The princess's health severely deteriorated in December 2022 when she collapsed during a visit to a national park, leading to an emergency helicopter medical evacuation to a Bangkok hospital, where she remained comatose under specialized medical supervision until her demise.

Born on December 7, 1978, Princess Bajrakitiyabha pursued an extensive academic path in jurisprudence, earning both a Master's and a Doctorate degree in Law from Cornell University in the United States. She initiated her career within the Office of the Attorney General of Thailand, establishing herself as an expert in the legal field. She subsequently advanced her nation's diplomatic profile on the international stage, serving as the Thai Ambassador to Austria, Slovenia, and Slovakia between 2012 and 2014.

Her global advocacy for human rights earned her significant international acclaim, culminating in her 2017 appointment by the UN Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice as a Goodwill Ambassador for the Rule of Law in Southeast Asia. A cornerstone of her public work involved championing the legal rights and rehabilitation of incarcerated women. Parallel to her legal and diplomatic career, Princess Pa held a senior post within the Royal Security Command and was officially promoted to the military rank of General in 2021.

According to international news agencies, the government is expected to declare a period of official national mourning following the loss of the senior royal family member. The late princess was one of three children of King Rama X who held constitutional eligibility to ascend the throne. Currently, the primary heir apparent to the crown of the Kingdom of Thailand is the monarch's son from his third marriage, Prince Dipangkorn Rasmicoti.
