A new chapter in the nation's sporting history was written at Ashgabat's specialized chess and checkers school, where the first-ever Turkmenistan Team Chess Championship reached its conclusion. Orchestrated by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, the event featured 12 diverse teams from sports organizations, academic institutions, and public associations. With over 100 participants competing, the tournament showcased the depth of talent and the growing popularity of the "game of kings" across the country.

The championship followed an 11-round format, with matches contested across six boards in every session. A standout narrative of the competition was the performance of team "NESIL," composed of players aged 12 to 14. Their remarkable tenacity against veteran masters highlighted the promising future of Turkmen chess, earning them widespread acclaim for their tactical maturity and competitive spirit throughout the 11 rounds.

The most anticipated moment of the tournament was the head-to-head battle between brothers Maksat and Saparmyrat Atabayev, leading the "ASHGABAT" and "GALKAN" teams, respectively. Their grueling five-hour encounter ended in a hard-fought draw, a result that ultimately secured the top position for "ASHGABAT" in the overall standings. This high-level match served as the centerpiece of a tournament defined by strategic brilliance and professional endurance.

As the final scores were tallied, the "ASHGABAT" team from the specialized chess school emerged as the overall champions, hoisting the inaugural traveling trophy. The silver medals were awarded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' sports club "GALKAN," while the "TALYP SPORT" team from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports claimed the bronze. The closing ceremony honored the winners with trophies, medals, and certificates, while individual awards were presented to those who displayed exceptional board mastery.

FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi (Pablo Paéz Gavira) is donating approximately €1.3 million to fund the construction of 150 homes for homeless and low-income individuals. The project will take place in his hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca, located in the province of Seville.

According to Spanish media outlets, the development is designed to shelter around 300 people who face financial difficulties in purchasing or renting a home. The initiative is a purely charitable endeavor funded entirely by the footballer rather than a commercial real estate investment.

Specific details regarding construction timelines and eligibility criteria for housing recipients will be announced in subsequent phases of the project.
