Singer from Turkmenistan Dovran Shammyev will take part in the Silk Way Star contest in Astana
Filming of the first Asian vocal competition Silk Way Star, in which performers from 12 countries will take part, begins in Astana on August 20. Turkmenistan will be represented on the project by singer and composer Dovran Shammyev.
The competition consists of 10 episodes. The artists will demonstrate musical traditions and modern trends of the Asian music scene. Viewers can expect joint performances of singers from different countries and their stories. The grand final will be shown live on November 22 on leading TV channels of the participating countries, including Turkmenistan, Orient notes.
The winner will be determined by a system where the votes of the professional jury and the audience will be counted equally - 50% each. The jury includes Turkmen conductor Rasul Klychev.
Dovran Shammyev performs music in the genres of jazz, pop, rock, blues and classical music. He also writes music and is involved in social activities.
The organizers note that Silk Way Star is conceived as an international platform for cultural exchange and dialogue through music. The competition is held within the framework of an agreement between the Presidential Television and Radio Broadcasting Company of Kazakhstan and the China Media Corporation CMG. In the future, the project is planned to be held annually in different Asian countries.

To meet public demand, the Balkan Regional Consumer Societies Union has opened more than 100 mobile trade points across all districts and cities of the region. These mobile shops will operate until January 3, 2026, according to the «Türkmenistan» newspaper.
