Tomorrow morning, on May 27, mosques across Turkmenistan will host the traditional Eid al-Adha (Gurban bayramy) prayers, marking one of the most sacred festivals in the Islamic calendar. Believers residing in cities and rural communities across the country will gather at regional mosques to observe congregational prayers, celebrating the values of charity, spiritual purity, selflessness, and the historic preservation of national moral heritage.
The authorized religious authorities of Turkmenistan have officially established the precise schedule for the commencement of the solemn Eid prayers in each province, calculated in alignment with local timezone metrics:
Ashgabat and Arkadag cities: 06:35 AM

In accordance with a special Decree signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Eid al-Adha will be officially observed as a national holiday in Turkmenistan on May 27, 28, and 29. Pursuant to this supreme executive document, all public institutions, industrial ministries, state agencies, and private enterprises—regardless of ownership structure—are strictly mandated to ensure the full execution of the holiday directive, allowing citizens across the nation to celebrate this sacred period with family and community.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
