Regional Stage of National Folk Music and Dutaris Competition Concluded in Dashoguz
04 Jun. 12:42The Dashoguz provincial round of the "Çalsana, bagşy!" creative contest, a specialized segment of the prestigious nationwide "Türkmeniň Altyn asyry" presidential art prize, has successfully concluded. According to state media updates, the regional cultural event took place inside the state-of-the-art "Türkmeniň ak öýi" building in Dashoguz city. The platform is designed to preserve historic Turkmen musical arts and encourage younger generations to master the dynamic strings of the dutar.
The artistic race featured 20 young vocalists and instrumentalists representing various districts across the northern province. A professional jury panel, consisting of veteran folk musicians and academic art experts, evaluated the participants based on rigorous vocal techniques, instrumental precision, correct historical text pronunciation, and stage presence. These structural benchmarks ensure the continuation of high performance standards within the traditional music fields.
Following a highly competitive series of auditions, the evaluation board announced four outstanding youth performers as the regional winners. In the traditional singing category, Perman Gurbanov from Akdepe district and Ayperi Artykova from Gorogly district claimed top honors. Meanwhile, Nurana Arazgeldiyeva from Saparmyrat Turkmenbashy district and Sahy Tachmedow from the city’s central cultural hub won the top scores for their masterful dutar picking.
These selected finalists have earned the official right to advance to the final national grand arena of the competition. At the closing ceremony, all the award-winning performers and participants were presented with premium corporate gifts and honorary certificates issued on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan to honor their dedication to national folklore.


Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
