President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met in Avaza with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

As reported by the news program "Watan", the President of Turkmenistan welcomed the distinguished guest to Turkmen soil and expressed confidence that this conference will help effectively implement the new Program of Action for Landlocked Countries, adopted in December 2024.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres noted that he was very pleased to be in Turkmenistan again. He highly appreciated the active efforts of the Turkmen side to address important problems of our time and establish multilateral cooperation based on long-termism and mutual respect, emphasizing that Turkmenistan, which has accumulated extensive experience in peacekeeping, acts as an important and strategic partner of the UN in ensuring universal peace, security and sustainable development.

Secretary-General António Guterres highly appreciated the opportunities created by Turkmenistan to hold the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries at a high organizational level and the efforts in this direction. For this, he expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan on behalf of all UN representatives.

During the meeting, the interlocutors expressed confidence that this international event will become an important step in achieving sustainable development in the world, establishing relationships and creating transport corridors.
