At least four people were killed and 24 others sustained injuries following a major train derailment in the southern Delta State of Nigeria. The incident was reported by the Xinhua news agency, citing an official statement from Funsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the country's Ministry of Transportation.

Speaking during a press briefing for journalists in Abuja, Adebiyi confirmed that the passenger train was carrying 442 passengers when the accident occurred near the town of Agbor. The structural impact of the derailment caused four carriages to overturn completely, while an additional coach was derailed off the tracks. Emergency response teams were deployed to the site to transport the injured to medical facilities and initiate a formal investigation into the technical cause of the crash.
