OpenAI has reported a surge in the popularity of its ChatGPT chatbot, which now handles over 2.5 billion user requests daily — approximately 912.5 billion per year. About one-third of these requests come from users in the United States, amounting to around 330 million queries per day.

Although ChatGPT still lags behind Google in terms of traffic — Google processes around 5 trillion searches annually — OpenAI’s audience growth is striking. From December 2024 to March 2025, the weekly user base of the service grew from 300 million to 500 million.

Analysts note that the chatbot is increasingly being used as an alternative to traditional search engines. According to media reports, OpenAI plans to launch its own AI-integrated browser in the coming weeks, potentially intensifying competition with Google. The company has also introduced the ChatGPT Agent tool, which enables users to automate tasks on their behalf.
