President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has officially signed a Decree establishing the self-supporting enterprise Galkynyshgaz under the State Concern Turkmengaz. The formation of this new entity was finalized during a Cabinet meeting on April 18, aiming to streamline the management of major national energy projects.

The primary objective of the new enterprise is to coordinate operations with contractors and tighten oversight of the fourth development phase of the Galkynysh gas field. This phase involves a partnership with CNPC Amudarya Petroleum Company Ltd to design and construct facilities capable of processing 10 billion cubic meters of commercial gas annually.

The Head of State characterized the commencement of this fourth industrial phase as a milestone for Turkmenistan’s energy sector. The issued decree mandates the State Concern to ratify the charter of Galkynyshgaz and provide the necessary institutional support to ensure its effective operational start.

Vice-Premier G. Agajanov has been directed to strictly monitor the progress and timely execution of all tasks associated with this strategic venture. The establishment of Galkynyshgaz is expected to enhance project management efficiency and ensure the successful integration of advanced technologies in gas production.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
