Medal Success in Aktau: Turkmen Karateka Claim 4 Medals on Opening Day of Central Asian Championship
03 Aug. 14:06On the first day of the 11th WKF Central Asian Karate Championship in Aktau, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan’s national team secured four medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze. The results were published by the online news platform Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The three-day tournament features nearly 500 athletes representing Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Competitors across cadet, junior, and senior divisions are vying for honors in kata (forms) and kumite (sparrrings). Turkmenistan’s delegation includes 36 athletes, 4 coaches, 6 referees, and 1 official representative from the National Karate-do Federation.
Turkmen athletes achieved notable standings in the kata discipline during the opening matches:
Gold Medal: Muhammetresul Hayrullayev (7th-grade student at Secondary School No. 18 in Bayramali, Mary Region) — Boys' Under-14 category.
Silver Medal: Allanur Yalkabov (11th-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 52 in Ashgabat) — Junior 16–17 age group.
Bronze Medals: Musa Gurbanov (5th-grade student at Secondary School No. 6 in Bayramali) and Shirmuhammet Garamyradov (4th-grade student at Secondary School No. 11 in Bayramali) — Youngest 10–11 age group.
The championship remains ongoing.
