According to the official results of the second round of the presidential elections in Colombia, lawyer Abelardo de la Espriella has emerged as the winner. Following the processing of nearly one hundred percent of the ballots, he secured over twelve million votes, narrowly defeating his left-wing opponent, Ivan Cepeda, in a closely contested race.

Speaking before a gathering of his supporters, the newly elected president expressed his gratitude to the voters for their immense confidence. He pledged his absolute commitment to upholding the nation's Constitution and vowed to safeguard the rights of all citizens, including those who cast their ballots for his rival.

De la Espriella campaigned as the leader of the independent popular movement "Defenders of the Fatherland," which he founded. During his tenure, he aims to implement structural reforms, promising to downsize the government workforce by forty percent, expand the tax base, and launch an aggressive crackdown on crime. He will officially assume the presidency in early August.
