Turkmen chess player Lale Shohradova won the gold medal in the rapid discipline at the Asian Junior Chess Championship (U20) currently taking place in Mumbai, India. Organized by the Maharashtra Chess Association with support from AICF, ACF, and FIDE, the tournament gathers 157 players from 10 countries across classical, rapid, and blitz events.

The girls' rapid division featured 60 players representing 7 nations. Despite a third-round setback against teammate Jahan Rejepova, Shohradova bounced back with consecutive victories, finishing with 6 points out of 7 rounds and topping India's Pratiti Bordoloi on tiebreakers to claim first place.

This victory marks Shohradova's second medal at the championship, following her silver medal performance in the blitz event on August 17. The championship moves forward with the 9-round classical event running through August 26.
