Kyrgyzstan establishes temporary "green corridor" amnesty for undocumented foreign nationals
27 Jun. 17:57The government of the Kyrgyz Republic has initiated a comprehensive legal framework to assist foreign citizens and stateless persons currently residing in the country in violation of local migration status guidelines. According to an official executive decree signed by President Sadyr Japarov, a temporary "green corridor" operational protocol will be active across the state from July 1 to July 31, 2026. This administrative initiative offers an alternative exit channel for undocumented individuals to rectify their legal standings.
The core parameter of the new temporary emergency policy allows affected foreign nationals to exit the sovereign territory of Kyrgyzstan voluntarily without being subject to standard administrative fines or institutional penalties for visa overstays. To participate in the program, individuals must report to their local territorial police department based on their current place of residence to obtain an official verification letter required for clearance.
Upon receiving the police clearance document, applicants are required to independently submit an electronic exit visa application via the official online governmental portal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan validated that during this month-long amnesty period, standard exit visa processing fees will be waived, and statutory immigration enforcement fines will be fully suspended for registered applicants.
State departments emphasize that these specialized legal privileges apply strictly to individuals who present themselves to law enforcement agencies voluntarily and manage their electronic applications independently without using third-party commercial immigration agencies. The legal amnesty project is scheduled to conclude on July 31, 2026, precisely at 23:59 local time, after which the processing network will close and standard punitive measures will resume against remaining undocumented persons.

Seismic First: Scientists Officially Confirm Natural Earthquakes in Lithuania
10 Oct. 10:55The Geological Survey of Lithuania, supported by seismologists from the University of Helsinki, has officially confirmed the occurrence of natural tectonic earthquakes within the country’s borders for the first time. The seismic events, measuring 2.4 and 2.7 on the magnitude scale, occurred in western Lithuania near the Gargždai fault zone in December 2025. Furthermore, updated analysis of international seismic data allowed experts to reclassify a previously ambiguous 2015 tremor as a natural earthquake rather than human-induced activity.
Although the low-intensity quakes caused no structural damage or casualties, they mark the first instrumentally verified natural tectonic events recorded in modern Lithuanian history.
