Helicopter Crashes into Lake While Fighting Wildfire in Canada — Pilot Rescued
On Friday, a helicopter involved in wildfire suppression in Nova Scotia, Canada, made an emergency landing in a lake. According to Xinhua News Agency, the pilot was rescued and survived the incident.
The province’s Department of Natural Resources reported that the helicopter crashed in shallow water in Annapolis County during firefighting operations. CBC News stated that the pilot was conscious at the time of the rescue and is currently undergoing medical evaluation.
The wildfire, which broke out on Wednesday, was caused by a lightning strike and required aerial support to control the flames.
Authorities say the pilot is in stable condition. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and more details will be released as they become available.
