**Euronews highlighted Turkmenistan's progress in the development of chess**

The international news outlet Euronews has published an article highlighting Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of chess, emphasizing the country’s significant progress toward strengthening its position on the global stage.

The article notes that Turkmenistan is confidently moving from hosting regional tournaments to gaining international recognition, forming a structured system for the development of chess. In 2024 alone, 130 FIDE-rated tournaments were held across the country. In 2025, the national Grand Prix cycle covering all regions is actively continuing.

Euronews gives special attention to the country’s support for young chess players — starting from the age of six, children have access to training sessions and tournaments, and also participate in international competitions. Turkmen juniors are actively increasing their FIDE ratings, and training camps and online seminars with international masters are being organized in the country.

The article names Turkmenistan’s leading chess players — Grandmasters Saparmurat Atabayev, Mergen Amanov, Yusup Atabayev, as well as FIDE Master Lala Shohradova, who in 2025 became the first Turkmen woman to participate in the Women's World Cup.

According to Euronews, such achievements reflect a strategic and comprehensive approach being implemented with the support of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan. The country is making confident steps toward nurturing a new generation of players capable of representing Turkmenistan with honor on the international stage.
