Chinese researchers have unveiled the world’s first universal 6G chip. According to the developers, the chip will help bridge the digital divide between urban and rural communities. The technology allows for mobile internet speeds exceeding 100 gigabits per second.
The chip is capable of operating across the entire wireless spectrum, including frequencies used in remote areas.
Compared to mobile internet speeds in rural parts of the USA, the new chip transmits data about 5000 times faster. This means a 50GB 8K video can be downloaded in just a few seconds.
This development opens up new educational and business opportunities for people in remote areas of the country, reports South China Morning Post.
6G is the sixth generation of mobile communication, utilizing more advanced technologies than the current 5G standard. The 6G standard is expected to be implemented by the late 2020s.
