Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Inspects the Construction of the 30,000-Capacity Mosque in Arkadag City
28 May. 03:42The National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, visited the construction site of the landmark 30,000-capacity mosque being built in Arkadag City. The grand structure is developed as a centerpiece architectural project within the second phase of the new smart city's expansion.
According to the "Watan" news program, Hajji Arkadag—who holds the distinguished title of "Honored Architect of Turkmenistan"—was fully briefed on the current execution pace, interior design concepts, and materials selected for the complex. The National Leader reviewed digital renderings and structural blueprints showcasing the underfloor heating systems, custom praying carpets, marble floor patterns, minaret structural layouts, and Islamic calligraphic inscriptions chosen for the walls and the Mihrab.
The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized that maintaining pristine structural quality and completing the spiritual complex on schedule remain non-negotiable requirements. Underscoring the importance of combining modern engineering standards with traditional heritage motifs, Hajji Arkadag provided essential design guidance and practical recommendations to the project supervisors.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
