The city of Ashgabat is preparing for a major international sporting event titled "Wings of Friendship: EU × Turkmenistan," organized in honor of Europe Day. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports, and the Ashgabat City Administration. The event is also supported by the Run-Rush public movement, highlighting the role of sports in promoting international solidarity and a healthy lifestyle.

The run is scheduled to take place on April 11, 2026, within the scenic Independence Park, starting at 08:00 AM. Participants can choose from several competitive distances, including 2km, 5km, and 10km, alongside a special recreational route designed for enthusiasts of all fitness levels. In addition to the races, the program features various athletic activities across different age groups, with prizes awaiting the top performers in each category.

This inclusive event welcomes experienced runners as well as families and friends looking to enjoy an active morning together. To ensure safety and coordination, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to participate. The "Wings of Friendship" run serves as a platform to strengthen the cultural and social bonds between Turkmenistan and the European Union through the universal language of sport.

Prospective participants must register in person on April 7th or 8th, between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Registration points are located at Hiroo Ashgabat (9th Microdistrict) and a specialized store at 150 Magtymguly Avenue. A valid form of identification is required for the registration process. This event is expected to draw a significant crowd, further establishing Ashgabat as a hub for international athletic engagement and community wellness.
