Ashgabat Relocates 'Wokzal' Bus Terminal for Municipal and Intercity Routes
10 Jun. 13:46The Ashgabat Passenger Automobile Enterprise has officially announced a structural change in the city's transit network, relocating the terminal location of the "Wokzal" (Railway Station) bus stop. Serving high-capacity municipal buses under the "Yutong" brand, the newly established terminal is situated on the south-eastern side of the former site and has been operational since June 8, 2026.
The modernized transit point now handles the regular departures of municipal bus routes No. 20, No. 33, and No. 37. Upgraded infrastructure has been integrated at this location to ensure standard comfort and structured waiting conditions for daily commuters.
In addition to securing local municipal transport lines, the relocated hub serves as the primary departure platform for long-distance intercity bus services. Passengers can access long-distance routes traveling directly from this platform toward Awaza, Archman, Mollagara, Turkmenbashy, and Hazar.
This administrative adjustments aims to streamline passenger transportation within Turkmenistan's capital, enhance public safety parameters around the main railway district, and deliver an integrated environment for regional travel.
Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
