Ashgabat Hosts International Gala Concert Celebrating the 27th TURKSOY Opera Days
04 May. 03:34The Mukam Palace of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan recently became the venue for a grand cultural celebration marking the 27th Opera Days of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). This prestigious event featured outstanding vocalists and opera masters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, showcasing the vibrant artistic synergy of the Turkic world.
The concert opened with a powerful symphonic performance by the State Symphony Orchestra and the National Choir of Turkmenistan, setting an inspiring atmosphere for the evening. The repertoire was meticulously curated to include a blend of globally recognized operatic masterpieces and seminal works by national composers from the participating countries, highlighting the diversity of their musical heritage.
Throughout the event, performers delivered sophisticated renditions of famous arias and national opera segments in various Turkic languages. Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
