A Turkmen project has entered the finals of the World Architecture Festival 2025 for the first time

The Turkmen architectural studio SARY Architects, with their project Yupekchi Headquarters, has reached the final of the largest international competition, the World Architecture Festival 2025. This marks the first time in history that a work from Turkmenistan has received recognition at this level. The final will take place from November 12 to 14 in Miami, USA, where participants will personally present their projects to the international jury.

The Yupekchi HQ project was shortlisted in the "Office Buildings" category. The architects of SARY, founded by Azat Sary, designed the administrative center for an industrial company in the city of Sakarchaga (Mary Province), drawing inspiration from the architectural motifs of the “Gyz Gala” fortress and adapting them to modern conditions.

Yupekchi HQ is the first submission from Turkmenistan to gain recognition at the World Architecture Festival — a prestigious international platform that annually brings together architects from around the world. Selection criteria include not only the visual expressiveness of the project but also its cultural and engineering merit.

Notable features of the project include a closed structure with an inner courtyard, the use of local materials (brick, concrete, marble), energy-efficient cooling and ventilation systems, as well as careful consideration of the climatic and cultural context.

SARY Architects is an architectural studio founded in 2023. The team includes architects and designers working with local culture within the context of contemporary architecture.

Construction of Yupekchi HQ is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. For the Turkmen architectural scene, reaching the WAF final is a significant event that underscores its aspiration for international dialogue and readiness to be part of the global professional community.

Source

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan has officially approved the work and rest schedule for 2026. In Turkmenistan, there will be a total of 12 official public holidays across all regions.

Workweek formats are as follows:

  • Five-day workweek — 40 hours

  • Six-day workweek (7 hours/day) — 40 hours

  • Six-day workweek (6 hours/day) — 36 hours

The public holidays in Turkmenistan in 2026 are:

  • January 1 — New Year

  • March 8 — International Women’s Day

  • March 20 — Oraza Bayram

  • March 21–22 — National Spring Holiday

  • May 18 — Constitution and State Flag Day of Turkmenistan

  • May 27–29 — Gurban Bayram

  • September 27 — Independence Day

  • October 6 — Day of Remembrance

  • December 12 — International Neutrality Day

On the workday preceding a public holiday, working hours are reduced by one hour. The same applies to night shifts, and in continuous production, the schedule is equivalent to a normal day. The average monthly working time is 166.9 hours for a 40-hour workweek and 150.5 hours for a 36-hour workweek. This ensures a balanced labor schedule throughout Turkmenistan in 2026.
